Triple Triad forum dupes - please ignore

Call of Duty is the definition of polish, these games don't change a whole lot year to year on the outside but on the inside it's constantly being polished and refined... to some this has caused Call of Duty to become stale. One big fault I'd peg on CoD is it's price, yearly releases and expensive map packs really add up... it can get quite pricey and it feels kinda greedy.

World of Tanks is a great game, it's pretty well made and it's gameplay is quite good. It has some RPG elements in gaining XP to upgrade parts of your tank or to entire new ones as well, also plays a roll in damage and hits. It all works quite well. WoT is guilty of some of the same greed Call of Duty has sowed into it's franchise. Now WoT is free so some of it is forgiven... they do have to make money after all but I can't help but see odd design choices that serve no purpose at all other than dragging parts of the game out and then conveniently offering multiple ways to speed this stuff up for a cost.

That said, i've gotten a good 150 matches in so without feeling any pressure to spend money... plenty of fun to have playing for free. Some of the dragging out can also double as extending the life of the game... if you love grinding and like playing the game, it's just gonna feel like other MMOs (slow progress but 100's of hours of gameplay).

Money schemes aside WoT is at it's core a fun game, it's slower than the typical FPS but also offers shooter fans a familiar but fresh experience. Ultimately I'm gonna vote WoT over CoD as I like the slower more strategic feeling gameplay and RPG elements of WoT over the more twitch gameplay of CoD.

APB: Reloaded can be loads of fun, just mindless fun. The game is pretty buggy, it's not terribly balanced per-say and it's kinda pay-to-win but it's still fun... it's one of them games you pop in when your bored... it's not really something you play seriously, it's just to mess around in.

PlanetSide 2 on the other hand is the type of game you really have to get into to have fun... you can luck into fun but to really get the best out of it you really need to jump in head first. PlanetSide 2 has offered some of the best and worst online shooter experiences I've ever had... at it's worst I'm spending more time trying to find the fight than actually fighting in it... it can be a lonely game. At it's best though it's some of the best online shooter moments around... that feeling of running into battle with tanks rolling around, planes flying over head and lots of other ground troops all around... bullets with tracer trails on them whizzing all over the place... it's crazy.

The trick is you have to plan these attacks... nothing is scripted, if you don't know anyone, don't group up, don't speak up etc then running into these incredible moments becomes a lot more about luck than anything else, when you jump in, join a clan and really get into it though this stuff can be every battle and a really great experience.

Both games have their issues, pros, cons etc but I have to go PlanetSide 2 for it's overall package.
