    it isn't the first time they've had problems. I remember having issues with Maxis helpdesk in the nineties only to see them being taken over by EA, only to see EA taken over by the French Vivendi. They just can't seem to get their act together in some areas.

    I wonder who will buy them now.

    yeah Wow is getting old, it's losing market share and they know it. I reckon that whoever is going to buy it, is going to pay too much and then end up getting bankrupt themselves within 5 years.

    Vivendi bought Activision. EA thus far has avoided being bought out. I think EA is mostly safe and rumors are just the high ups getting a little jumpy.

    Yup, Vivendi wants to cash in but so far they haven't had any luck. Seems the ones who have enough money to pull it off (Microsoft, Nintendo, maybe Sony) just don't think it's worth it as it would need to stay multi platform... then guys like EA, Ubisoft, Take Two and ZeniMax either have competitive products or are afraid the purchase will drive them into the ground.

    I think EA or ZeniMax are really the only ones "stable" enough to pull off the purchase and survive if it crash and burns but I don't think either feel compelled to do it. I could see Microsoft do it if they could get just Blizzard. Left field would be Apple, I doubt it but they have seemed interested in getting into the video game market.

    So far it sounds like Activision might just buy itself back.

    As for OnLive, that was way out of nowhere. However they aren't calling it quits, they are pressing the reset button and selling off to a new company with "substantial funding". All current services are expected to remain the same and continue functioning. Lots of rumors that is just until the contracts run out then they will become an IP company but from what I've seen they are actually committing even more to the video game side of it, except this time they are going to take it slower and smarter to avoid the large running costs. They also are going to start using their patents... Sony/GaiKai is the first target as they completely ripped off OnLive but it's more because GaiKai's CEO is a complete douche and OnLive n Co really don't like him.

    OnLive works pretty well, it's just way ahead of it's time.

    It was activision. yeah my mistake

    I don't see microsoft moving more into video games. They did in the nineties, brought some great games too, like Age of Empires, but I only see them pulling out of the market, especially the PC market.

    O yeah defiantly, Microsoft hasn't really been successful producing video games. I'd see it as more a cash deal, Blizzard continues to do it's own thing... basically printing money lol and Microsoft profits. Getting Blizzards titles in the Windows 8 app store would be a great way to get it off to a good start as well.

    Overall I don't really see it either but they have the cash and need the games.
