Final Fantasy XIV's current version is approaching its twilight to make way for version 2.0. The servers will go dark, the new version will be tested, and perhaps most importantly, the game will once again discontinue the subscription fee. A recent dispatch from the development team confirms that service fees will be discontinued on September 29th, at which point all billing will stop and cannot be started again until the game relaunches.

Players with currently active subscriptions will be able to continue playing from September 30th up until the game shuts down on November 11th. (The last snapshot of character progress will be on November 1st, however, so the last 10 days of play will not be transferred to the new version.) Players whose subscriptions are already cancelled or will be cancelled after September 30th will not be able to play for free during this period, and the last day to reactivate a subscription or redeem any other codes will be the 29th. Read through the full dispatch for all of the details if you're not sure where you'll be after the end of the month, and keep your eyes peeled for more information as the relaunch draws closer.

Wargaming has released the fifth in its series of developer diaries for World of Warplanes.

BioWare general manager Matt Bromberg said the company is committed to major Star Wars: The Old Republic updates every six weeks going forward.

What will those updates include? Bromberg saide:

BioWare is also looking at ways to sweet-talk former subscribers. The first such initiative takes the form of cartel coins which are in-game tokens earned for being a subscriber after the free-to-play conversion. Nexon America announced the results from its first ever presidential poll called Great Maple Election Quest 2012. Barack Obama is preferred over Mitt Romney by 80 percent of those participating in this survey.

The poll is a small part of a major event currently being held in MapleStory. The Great Maple Election Quest 2012 will include additional player polls, and will also include wide-ranging in-game election events running up to Election Day on Nov. 6. Additionally, MapleStory has partnered with Rock The Vote to encourage players to register to vote and participate in the real presidential election.

Any registered MapleStory player in Nexon America's service could participate in the survey. Those who participated in the poll will receive an in-game item, called the "Buff Freezer."

"It is exciting to see our players voice their position on something as important as a presidential election," said Min Kim, Nexon America CEO. "Our players represent a very important voting block. This event in MapleStory gives our players an outlet to have their voices heard, in and out of the game, while providing an avenue for them register and become part of the election process."

Jagex revealed a new free new security feature for RuneScape players to better manage and defend their own security. The new Jagex Account Guard (J.A.G.) is optional, and can be enabled through the account settings on the RuneScape website.
