    Version 8.0 Release

    Version 8.0 is the most anticipated World of Tanks update so far! The new physics system has been discussed and speculated about by virtual tankers for months. Some of you may have already had a taste of it on the test servers. Now, all those dreams about jumping off cliffs and pushing enemies off bridges can become reality.

    However, that’s not all! In version 8.0, World of Tanks will also get a brand new rendering and lighting system. Several maps will be put through a very intensive face-lift which will give them a brand new feel.

    As with every update, there will be several new vehicles introduced into the game. These include four new USSR tank destroyers, and a new premium tank, the Matilda Black Prince. As well as these new vehicles, you will also get a large number of new customisation options for your vehicles, in the form of emblems and inscriptions which can be placed on your tanks.

    All these changes and more await you once Version 8.0 goes live! Read the full list of changes to see all of the details in the Updates section.

    The maintenance will take place on the 27th of September and will last from 5:00 CEST (3:00 GMT) until 13:00 CEST (11:00 GMT).
    Those players with an active premium account at the time of the maintenance on Thursday 27th September will receive one day's worth of premium as compensation.

    In addition, Clan Wars will be down for maintenance and will be unavailable for one day, from 04:15 CEST (02:15 GMT) on the 27th of September to 04:15 CEST (02:15 GMT) on the 28th of September.

If two or more players have equal amount of enemy vehicles highlighted and destroyed, or if two or more players highlight the same vehicle, the achievement is granted to the player who has earned more XP in the battle.
    Brothers in Arms: Each platoon member must destroy at least 3 enemy vehicles and survive. Granted to all platoon participants
    Tamada Yoshio Medal: Given to a player who destroys 3+ SPGs that are at least two tiers higher while driving a light tank, and survives the battle.

    Game Mechanics:
    Changed physics modeling of tank movement. Vehicles can now ‘jump’ from edges, drown in water, push enemies and allied vehicles and so on.
    Reworked camouflage system:
    All camouflage patterns present on your vehicles at the time of the update will be sold according to the purchase price.
    Now, up to 3 camouflage patterns (summer, winter, sand) can be purchased for each vehicle simultaneously. When you enter a battle, the specific pattern will be automatically selected by the system to suit the map. If none of your camouflages are the right one for that map, no camouflage will be applied to the vehicle
    Having suitable camouflage pattern for the map now adds 5% to the camouflage characteristics of the vehicle for that battle.
    Added option to exclude ‘Encounter’ and ‘Assault’ game modes from random rotation in settings
    Reworked the way quick commands are used, with additional commands added. It now works in conjunction with your aim:

    In training battles, it is now possible to switch the places of teams.
    Enlarged the list of available complaints about a player, and added option to send a complaint about a player during the after-battle statistics. Also increased limit of daily complaints from 3 to 5.

    Graphics:
    Added first iteration of new renders (which can be activated using "improved graphics" in settings), which provides much better picture.
    Olds renders can be enabled by choosing ‘standard graphics’ in settings
    Following maps reworked for new renders and lighting:

    Added option to select player to follow in ‘post-mortem’ mode by clicking on their nickname in the team list with Ctrl+LMB. Now LMB also returns camera to the previous tank, instead of your vehicle.
    Reworked design and some available settings for tank markers
    Added different settings for markers for different types of vehicles: allied, enemy, destroyed
    Added alternative color scheme for vehicle markers

    Added new sounds for driving on sand, wooden bridges, gravel etc.

    Fixed a rare bug involving 2 vehicles making an instantaneous turn after a long turning whilst colliding on the sides.

    Voting for Golden Joystick award is continuing and the battle isn’t over yet! To celebrate our nomination, we are having a Contest Marathon and we would like to introduce you to our latest contest: Rage Face Gold Joystick! Those in the World of Tanks audience with a creative streak might be cheering now, as this contest is all about your creativity and wit.



    How to participate:

    Create your own short comic using rage faces. You can either draw the images yourself, or just looks for free ones online which you can modify and use! The images are very simple and are made with simple graphic programs such as MS Paint.

    Obviously, the plot of the Rage Face Comic should be somehow related to the World of Tanks. The main judging criteria for the comic will be humour.

    The contest begins today, 21st September and will end at 12:00 CEST (10:00 GMT) on the 28th September. This means that you have seven days to design and post your comic!



    Rules:
    One entry per player allowed.
    The comic should consist of at least three panels.
    The maximum resolution allowed is up to 1024x768 in jpeg format.
    The size of the image cannot exceed 700 kb
    Upload your picture to an image storage location (such as Flickr or Photobucket). Your comic must be linked in a post to this special forum thread before the contest ends. Images must be posted within spoiler tags. Example: [ spoiler ] [​IMG] [ /spoiler ] (make sure you remove spaces from the code).
    The comic must be somehow related to the Golden Joystick nomination and voting process.
    Comics must not violate moral, ethical and legal standards and must follow standard forum rules for image content.
    All comics must be in English
