    SEATTLE, November 12, 2012: NCSOFT and ArenaNet are excited to release the second major content update within three months since launch for Guild Wars 2 this week, entitled The Lost Shores. Arriving November 15, the update brings many new features to the game and will be highlighted by a multi-stage, one-time event that will forever change the world of Guild Wars 2.

    A Mini-Expansion
    Following the hugely successful multi-stage mystery of the recent Halloween event, the Lost Shores update continues ArenaNet’s tradition of delivering regular content, compelling events, and unequalled ease of access in its regular game releases, all subscription-free. The Lost Shores update is a mini-expansion worth of new content that brings players an unprecedented amount of new areas to explore, challenges to conquer and goals to achieve.     Good read but I'm so confused by these "industry leaders"... F2P!.. Games have to be F2P!... Gamers want F2P! etc etc I don't see that... F2P is nice for some things but CoD doing billion in sales each release, big name games selling millions of copies... if we are demanding F2P for everything why are these games still selling?

    THQ was used as an example... THQ is dying and they basically said it's evidence that traditional payment model isn't working as well anymore... but that's completely false, THQ is dying because they keep putting out crappy games and selling them for $60 like nothing is wrong with the game. F2P has not been integrated into consoles yet... saying THQ... who's majority of sales is on consoles would of been better off spending tons of money and taking a huge risk getting the F2P model off the ground on consoles would of been a better play is just stupid.

    The current model isn't the problem... the problem is we have too many publishers and studios that don't know what they are doing, too many trying to make a quick buck off the "booming" video game industry and then when they fail it makes everyone look bad. I think prices need to come down... it's obvious not all games are created equal and yet they are all $60... why is that? Price it's more appropriate and it will sell.

    I think F2P has it's place, it's great for MMOs when done right and maybe it can work for other genres as well but if the future of gaming is heading into a shop in Skyrim and instead of the Glass Sword being 500 gold... it's $5... then I just wont play video games anymore...
