    Mirror's Edge 2 is in the works at Swedish Battlefield studio DICE.

    That's according to Ben Cousins, who previously served as general manager of EA Easy, where he oversaw the publisher's free-to-play games including Battlefield Play4Free.
    Responding to comments made by EA Games VP Patrick Soderlund, in which the executive said the publisher doesn't want DICE to become "a Battlefield factory", Cousins, who now heads up Ngmoco Sweden, wrote on Twitter:

    "It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production at DICE."

    Mirror's Edge 2 has appeared on a number of developers' CVs, and while neither EA or DICE have expressly confirmed the game's in production, both have made multiple allusions to the highly-requested sequel.

    Last year EA Games Label boss Frank Gibeau said ideas for the game were being worked on and that he was sure we'd see the IP combined with DICE's Frostbite 2 engine. Soderlund himself subsequently confirmed that EA was working on a new Mirror's Edge project, but didn't offer any further details. DICE producer Patrick Liu has also said the studio believes "people are ready to get into [Mirror's Edge] again.

    Sega has confirmed the European and North American release dates for Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

    According to the Sega Blog, the trio of AM2 classics will be available on PSN from November 27th in North America for $4.99 a pop, December 5th in Europe at £3.69/€4.49 each.
    The games will be available on XBLA on November 28th in both territories for 400 MSP.

    The releases have been branded the 'Model 2 Collection', since each game was originally released on Sega's 'Model 2' arcade cabinets in the early '90s. Virtua Striker and Cyber Troopers Virtual-On are also planned for release, but those are yet to be given a release date.

    7on7 is the format for professional eSports competition. It is the battle structure found in the ongoing ESL Major Series – Winter Season, in Wargaming’s Easy 8 Cup or in the upcoming worldwide event, the World Cyber Games Festival.

    Rules in these competitions are very simple: The line-up must not exceed 42 tierpoints and the maximum tier allowed is VIII. However, these limitations still leave a lot of room for different strategies and tactics. So without further ado, let’s get into valuable tips and tricks!


    Map tactics

    The most deciding factor in the tank-picking phase is the map. In terms of layout we can divide the maps in three types:


    OPEN MAPS

    They are artillery playgrounds. A light and fast line-up is imperative. In such maps it is all about scouting and spotting, and the main goal is to survive the artillery shots. Scout drivers should really know the map and find out what they can do with the new physics. No doubt, in open maps, artillery and intel makes the difference.

    CLOSED MAPS

    These maps are mainly city maps, which entails a heavy line-up. Given the 42 tierpoints limitation, a common choice is 2 tier I tanks plus 5 tier VIII heavy ones. Choosing artillery is often (or always) a waste of tierpoints. Sometimes it all comes down to deciding which street to push through and having enough armor and firepower to do so.

    BALANCED MAPS

    These maps allow different combinations between heavies, lights and artillery. It is in these maps, when the tank-picking phase gets more important. It is all about not giving away too much information to the enemy about the line-up and strategy.
    You have to choose whether to use artillery or not. It is often hard to use them effectively on these maps, so it may be better to invest in low tier arty.

    Tank line-ups

    There are no infallible line-ups. Actually, tactics only last until you spot the enemy, then you must just adapt. And of course, if you are pushed you have to answer with whatever you have at your disposal.

    There are common-sense options like mixing tanks that can deal damage but also take it in the same line-up, or refrain from choosing vehicles without a turret or that are just too slow, such as the great majority of tank destroyers. But instead of focusing on what you should avoid using, here are the top 6 of most used tanks in 7on7 battles.


    T1 Cunningham: The eyes of the team

    Tier 1 American Light tank

    It is necessary to understand the importance of this tier in 7on7 battles. It’s a common and good practice lo leave a T1 light tank hidden behind the bushes near by the base for it to detect enemies capping and alert the allies, or even provide enemy location to artillery to start de-capping.
    When there is more than one light tank, and the team commits to a side of the map to make a nice push it is always recommendable to place the light tank on the other side to collect intel about enemy location.


    T-50-2: Born to scout

    Tier V Soviet Light tank

    It has the best acceleration and manoeuvrability of any vehicle in the game due to its low weight. Well equipped, it can reach a maximum speed of 72 km/h, and climb hills faster than any other tank. However, this “lightness†is a liability when the enemy approaches rapidly with the intention of ramming you. So staying on the move is the key to survival.
    Its speed and agility are perfect for executing Carousel and Thin Trolling tactics. But do not underestimate the damage potential of this vehicle - a T-50-2 can easily finish off French tanks once they have emptied their clipper and have to run for cover, to wait for reload.


    AMX 13 90: Hit and run

    Tier VIII French Light tank

    This tank is one of the greatest support vehicles. Ideally an AMX 13 90 will be behind other heavies, those that can take damage, and will just focus on shooting, falling back and hiding, or even attacking from the rear and sides. Start doing some flanking, rushing up and firing off the magazine.
    Its great velocity will come very handy once the clipper is empty, since the reload times are just exasperating. And given the lack of armour and hit points the best option is run for cover, and make a comeback once reloaded, swooping in and finishing off the lower HP tanks still left standing.
    With its ability to adapt and move fast, this tank is recommended for keeping an eye out for friendly tanks in trouble.


    AMX 50 100: Harassment

    Tier VIII French Heavy tank

    Like the previous one, and indeed all French tanks, the AMX 50 100 has a great fire power, is fast to reposition, but its armour is just too weak for close combat.
    This makes it a great support for other Heavies. Actually this vehicle is a hybrid between medium and heavy: it can’t take any damage but on the other hand, it is able to do 1800 HP damage per minute. But of course, after firing off the 6 rounds quickly, you will have to wait 45 seconds to reload. So make an appearance, empty your clip and reposition. Harass the enemy. Abuse their fear of French Heavies.
    The AMX 13 90 and the AMX 50 100 have similar armour, reload time and damage output values. The main differences are in HP and speed. The 50 100 has more HP, i.e. can take one more shell, whereas the 13 90 is faster.


    T32: Heavy by definition

    Tier VIII American Heavy tank

    Awesome fire power, hard to penetrate and good turret armour. It is the best choice on average when it comes to a heavy line-up. On top of that, it does not have an ammo rack to be exploded and when using hull down tactics it becomes nearly indestructible.

    Lorraine 155 51: Death from above

    Tier VII French artillery

    Its great aiming time, amazing accuracy and high rate of fire (2.55 rounds per minute) will provide some serious damage to tanks that think they can just sit around. With this vehicle, show a lesson to those who think that camping is a tactic. Moreover it is a fast tank to relocate if things don’t quite work as intended. This tank is really the most lethal weapon in dynamic battles, no doubt.

    Added the “Patton Valley†achievement for the destruction of 100 M46 Patton or M48A1 Patton III tanks. After the update has been released, all previously destroyed tanks (of these types) will be counted.
    Added “commemoratives†– achievements without a grade, which can be granted to a number of players, several times per battle: ‘Lucky’ – Witness the destruction of an enemy vehicle by an enemy team player. You must be 10 metres or less from the enemy vehicle at the moment of its destruction.
    ‘Cool-Headed’ – Survive at least 10 ricochets and non-penetrations in a row from enemy team players.
    ‘Spartan’ - Survive a ricochet or non-penetration from an enemy team player. Your vehicle must have less than 10% of its hit points left.
    ‘Ranger’ - Destroy all enemy light tanks (at least 3) in the course of one battle.


    Game mechanics
    Fallen trees are now counted as masking cover (like bushes) for the visibility system.
    Tank vibration on ruins, rails and small objects has been reduced or completely removed.
    Increased radius of gun fire and hit sounds. Changed the way these effects sound from a distance.
    ‘Brothers-In-Arms’ perk now gives bonus to ‘Mentor’ perk.
    Changed to historical armouring of the Т-34-85, IS and Matilda (British) tanks.
    Changed the hull weight of the Churchill (Soviet) tank from 22000 to 20869 kg.
    Changed the weight of the AEC A190 engine from 400 to 800 kg.
    Changed the hull weight of the Valentine (Soviet) tank from 8700 to 8300 kg.
    Reduced the research cost of the 2x Leyland E164 engine for Matilda tank to 310 experience points.
    Increased the research cost of the Churchill tank after the Matilda tank to 11500 experience points.
    Fixed the mechanics of how the “Sniper†achievement is awarded.
    “Patrol Duty†achievement is now counted in the “Kay’s Medal†achievement
    The Panther M10 has been added to the “Hunter†achievement

    Graphics and technical improvements
    Draw distance (settings/graphics/draw distance) increased for minimum graphics quality settings from 400 to 600 metres, and from 1000 to 1400 meters for maximum graphics quality.
    Improved rendering performance of trees and vegetation – this should reduce performance drawdown in the sniper mode when one has a large amount of vegetation on the screen.
    Low performance issue fixed for some configurations (mainly for Radeon VGAs) for the following maps: Steppes, South Coast, Highway, Mines, Widepark, Abbey.
    Fixed incorrect auto-detection of the Texture Quality in the Graphics quality menu.
    Reworked and optimised some destruction effects of buildings and objects
    Some ambient objects were reworked and readjusted based on performance of improved graphics
    Added vehicle shadow in garage
    Added effects to decrease brightness and density of emblems and inscriptions while in post-mortem mode.

    UI
    Battle Interface: module icons (left bottom corner of the screen) show the interactive repair progress indicator.
    Fixed change in sharp camera angles when interacting with other objects (tanks) in some situations.
    In the tank tech tree display, the distance between the levels of the tanks has been reduced.
    In the tank tech tree, the exit to the common tech tree for the nation has been changed (the button with the flag of the nation instead of labels or links).
    In the tank tech tree, research cost and purchase price for the tanks and modules will be displayed regardless of the state of the tank / module.
    In the tech tree, if there are insufficient resources or experience points, the pop up will show how much experience or credits is still needed for levelling / purchase.
    In the tech tree, the presentation of a tank’s experience level has been changed.
    For post-mortem mode of viewing players from your team: Fixed drowning indicator display
    Added ‘empty ammo-rack’ display
    Added a display of the status of tank modules and tank crew-members

    Removed display of damage to allies from after-battle statistics
    The login message ‘Cannot connect. Probably connection is blocked by firewall’ changed to ‘Unable to connect to the server. Server may be down for maintenance or connection settings check is required’
    The message displayed when attempting login with an old version of the client has been changed from: "The login packet sent to the server was malformed" to "Error in authorization on game server. Your game client version may be outdated or damaged’

    Changed the display of names for the British tanks.
    Fully reworked the design of tank-selling window

    Fixes:
    Fixed a bug when a projectile disappears after penetrating through the mantlet and hitting the gun, but the gun is ‘not damaged’.
    Fixed a bug where a shell would disappear after breaking the spaced armour and then rebound off the main armour of the tank.
    Fixed "flying" tanks at high ping and significant loss of data packets.
    Fixed displacement and "tugging" of aim in sniper mode.
    Fixed an abnormally high damage from ramming in some cases.
    Fixed a low cost of repair of the tank after flooding.
    Fixed blocking of a flooded tank after battles on the global map.
    Fixed a bug when in some cases a tank destroyed by an enemy’s ally continued to gain experience for the damage of a spotted enemy vehicle during the battle.
    Fixed a rare issue which caused players to be added to excluded game modes
    Fixed the disappearance of burning effect on destroyed vehicles burning effect at relatively distances
    Fixed the discrepancy in the display and collision models of some buildings and objects
    Fixed option to enter ‘pre-battle UI’ in special battles, which one cannot leave afterwards
    Fixed different rounding methods used for the Win/Loss ratio percentage in different statistics windows
    Damage dealt to own vehicle removed from the after-battle statistics ‘battle efficiency’ tab
    Fixed the error, which caused rare cases of Ammo Rack critical hits not being counted in after-battle statistics
    Fixed an error in which SPG markers were displayed on the mini-map as tank markers
    Fixed the effect of some sniper reticule settings on the arcade reticule
    Fixed some errors in list of complaints in after-battle statistics.
    Fixed camouflage errors on the Pzkpfw V/IV, A-32 tanks.
    Fixed model and texture errors on the Object 268, T-46, IS-8 vehicles.
    Fixed inscriptions and emblems on the KV-5, M5 Stuart tanks.
    Fixed destroyed model errors on the Gw Panther, Е-100, Lowe, Grille, Lorraine39 L AM, Lorraine40t, T25-2, Panther M10, Object 212, Object 704, AMX 13F3AM, AMX 105AM, ARL 44, Matilda (British), AMX13-75 vehicles.
    Fixed incorrect shot effect of the 8.8cm KwK43 L/71 gun for the Tiger tank.
    Fixed incorrect exhaust effect of the В-2 engine for the KV engine.
    Fixed names of some American tanks.
    Fixed incorrect displaying of hit/penetration marks on the KV-1S, Т110Е4.Fixed the description when receiving the “Top Gun†and “Sniper†achievements.
