The Intel Extreme Masters Season VII qualification rounds are over. The 8 European teams have fought many battles to get to the point where they can be called “Europe’s Bestâ€. Most of the teams taking part in the finals have fought many battles and taken part in various tournaments of World of Tanks, not only in Europe, but around the entire world. While veterans participated in both Wargaming and ESL tournaments and scored big many times, we are happy to see some relatively new faces appearing in this tournament.

Below you can find the winners of the qualifier rounds who will meet in Katowice, Poland on the 18th and 19th of January 2013 to fight for big cash and fame, not to mention the title of the Intel Extreme Masters Champion.

The above teams will clash in epic battles for victory and a prize pool worth 15,000 Euros. As we said in our previous news, nobody will go home empty-handed. In addition, all expenses of this trip are covered for the finalists (both transportation from their home countries and during the tournament as well as the hotel). The prizes will be divided as follows:

The tournament finals will be held in Katowice, a city near to Kraków. It is a city in southern Poland near to the Czech and Slovakian borders. It is also easy to reach for people living in eastern Germany, who could even take a ride there by car. The hall chosen for the event is the “Spodek†arena (website in Polish). It is one of the most recognised concert and general event halls in the country and we hope that the modern design and great equipment will help make the event be a real blast.

We would like to invite everyone to come to the event. Entry to the party is free of charge! This also means that it would be a good idea to come early as there is only a certain amount of people who can get into the building. Don’t forget warm clothes – southern Poland is a little bit chilly at this time of the year!

If you haven’t already made hotel reservations for the trip, we would like to bring you some good news! The Wargaming crew and the World of Tanks tournament finalists are staying in the hotel “Angelo†in Katowice, and we would like to invite all our fans to come join us there!

If it is really not possible for you to attend, not everything is lost! It will be possible to watch the IEM Live Stream via special channels. Details about the channels will be posted shortly before the event when all the hamsters are fed and ready to run.

Controversial zombie survival game The War Z has found itself a victim of multiple hacking attempts over the last few days. Speaking on the game's official forums, community manager Kewk detailed the various attempts at disrupting the game: "Guys over the last few days we have been under attack by various forums [sic] of malicious attempts to shut down our servers."

"First we were hit with an attack that would rest [sic] our DNS IP so that you could not connect. This was solved a couple days ago early in the morning but took time to actually resolve world wide once the fix went in."

A couple of days later the game found itself "being hit, again, with a DDoS attack on our login server. We are implementing additional DDoS protection and hope to have this resolved asap. Unfortunately with these types of attacks it is very difficult to give a good time frame of when it will be resolved."

Kewk also detailed the various attempts at resolving the problems, with some successes for developer Hammerpoint Interactive. Right now it seems like the issues have been mostly fixed, though users trying to play from the now-removed Steam version still appear to be running into issues.

Last week, The War Z creator Sergey Titov apologised for the game's misleading launch and subsequent Steam delisting, saying that he "became arrogant and blinded by the early success and quick growth" of the game.

 

Crysis 3 will not come to Wii U. Crytek CEO and founder Cevat Yerli told Digital Spy that a "business drive" between Electronic Arts and Nintendo is keeping the upcoming shooter off Nintendo's first high-definition console.


"There has been discussions between Nintendo and EA and Crytek, but the bottom line is that there is that there's not enough business drive in it," Yerli said. "It's a business decision between EA and Nintendo. If that business decision doesn't make sense, or seems to not make sense for them, it's… not possible for us to make it. We can't publish ourselves, and that's the bottom line."

Crysis 3 was never a sure thing for release on Wii U. In May 2012, Crytek director of creative development Rasmus Hoejengaard said there was "not a fat chance" that Crysis 3 would ever ship for Wii U. That wasn't the end of the story, though, as Yerli clarified two months later that the game was possible for Wii U.

Crysis 3 is a first-person shooter set in 2047 New York that casts players as Prophet, a supersoldier seeking vengeance. The game is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on February 19, 2013.
