I did no matter what people say, IE still has the better support for most features and it doesn't use that much memory compared to FF. Sure FF is faster but comes at a price. After IE, I'd pick firefox, opera sucks, and I've never tried chrome
I picked Firefox, although Chrome is faster Firefox has SOOOO many add-ons that if you pick anything else for the best browser, it's simply wrong. I use Chrome for everyday browsing, reading news articles, posting on forums, Facebook, etc. due to its speed. But I use Firefox a lot too just because of how great some of the addons are. Opera is an okay browser, don't know why everyone hates on it. It may not have all the support of the other major browsers (Microsoft, Mozilla, and Google all have WAY more money put behind them). The browsing itself though is still faster than IE, and it has a nice layout. In a way Chrome took a lot of its look and feel from Opera, so don't hate on it too much. It can be frustrating, I know, but it's still a nice browser. IE is noticeably slower than all of the others, however, like shugo said the support is the best you will get. Problems are always fixed very fast, unlike in the other browser where I'll have the same problems for weeks until its patched in the next version. However, I would say I use IE the least simply because I can do everything that Chrome cannot, in Firefox.
I used IE for years up until someone decided to slap Firefox on our computer. I still end up using it quite a lot in the summer because of changing locations and dealing with Internet so crappy that it literally can't handle FF without crashing. IE is just far too slow for me to deal with most of the time. Plus, as Lions said, it lacks a lot of the more specialized browser features that others offer. I have never had an issue with FF apart from spontaneous jumps to the previous page I was viewing, but that seems to happen with all of our browsers for some reason. :\
Chrome and Firefox are the best. IE and Operah are both slow and IE is not very secure. There is also the part where neither of those two browsers are keeping up with web standards. I have a brother who is into web development and he is constantly complaining what a pain it is to make a website compatible with IE and Operah. As for Firefox and Chrome, it depends on what you want. Chrome is quite a bit faster, but it doesn't have all the plug-ins and add-ons of Firefox. I personally use Chrome.
Why does everyone diss Opera? Shugo has a legitimate reason. The rest of you are going with the flow. IF YOU CAN'T SPELL IT, DON'T DISS IT! It's not Opra. It's not Operah. It's Opera. And it's faster than Internet Explorer. So please shut up unless you have actually used it. It is flawed. But it is still better than Safari and no one is dissing them.
Ive used all 4 browsers.... for speed I say chrome is top. Basically when you just want to surf the web the best you can with few flash sites. Chrome on several computers I have used isn't very "flash friendly" unless you have a 4 GB+ RAM then it usually works fine and sees little crashes in that area for customization + speed at a cost of the more features u add the slower it gets I say its firefox =p. Major CPU hog but it gets the job done with searches and such. Chrome has the forte in this sector....loading multiple pages at once (spam clicking a link for example). Opera....I dislike the layout. It looks very bulky. Better than IE but I would not use it again. Crashed more than IE did when I tried it for a week o.0. Only good side to Opera I found out....it runs youtube videos well with little lag compared to IE. Besides that I found nothing worthy of including IE everyone knows is crap unless you know little about your computer. You have to strip it dry of all the add-ons and customizable features to even consider it as a fast browser. I used to laugh at the google search when it said "search completed in .47 seconds" and it took about 5 seconds to load. I have used a 5th browser called rockmelt or something. wasn't worthy of remembering. It was pretty damn bad lol. Basically a very bulky failed google chrome built for people who want to chat with people on their browser to make it even more laggy while searching.....you can't really disable that feature either....so it sucked.
GC and FF for me. But I use GC more. Shifted to them from IE, cause IE loads really slow sometimes. Heck, the "quick reply" section for GO loads really, really slow in IE Never used Opera, so...no comment
